Glacier Ridge started as a church launched out of Foothills Alliance Church in September of 2018, with a vision to see North Calgary transformed for Christ.

The journey started in the fall of 2016 when the Foothills Alliance Board of Elders considered and unanimously endorsed a new church plant. Glacier Ridge continues in the legacy of Foothills Alliance church planting. Since Foothills began in 1965 out of First Alliance, they have launched Rockyview, Cochrane, Harvest Hills, and Rockpointe, and those churches have since started, Airdrie, Northpoint, Capstone and Horizon.

As we prayerfully discerned where we should start this church, we were led to north of Stoney Trail and west of 14th Street in Calgary. This area includes the 45,000 residents of Kincora, Sherwood, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill, and Evanston. The City of Calgary’s long-term plan is to continue to expand and build north of these communities, and together this area will be home to 115,000 people.
