Over the past ten years, Saskatoon has experienced growth both economically and in terms of population. At the same time, the church community has failed to keep pace.

While the entire province of Saskatchewan has a respect for and a cultural affiliation with religion, only 12%-15% of Saskatoon residents are actively involved in a local church community. While the city of Saskatoon has grown younger in age and a new, more entrepreneurial culture has been emerging, church has become irrelevant. Like many Canadian cities, young families in Saskatoon spend most of their time involved in activities for their children during the school year and summers are spent at the lake.

Rob Clark and his team have been praying that God will enable them to engage the citizens of Saskatoon in a new way and Reach Church launched their first public gathering on November 6th of this year.

Writes Rob, "If any word could describe the launch properly, it would be the word historical. Although the gathering was the official launch date, there were many months of work and preparation leading into the Reach Church Saskatoonpublic gathering. We call the day historical as we believe it is the beginning of a new work which is a part of a greater work that God is doing in the city of Saskatoon. We are excited and encouraged by the prayers and support of churches and individuals that literally span across North America, and believe that the fifty people that were a part of the first Sunday of Reach Church will look back with great joy at this first, historical day for Reach Church."

Please Pray

Please pray for Reach Church as they navigate these early days as a church plant:

  • that their team would remain strong that all their needs would be cared for.
  • that Rob Clark and his family would be protected from overwork and that they would trust God.
  • that the city of Saskatoon would be open to this new expression of church and feel welcomed.
