Jesus Overcomes!

A 64-year-old man with a horrible story of abuse, both physical and mental, decided to get baptized in June. Part of the abuse he suffered earlier in his life involved being pushed and held under water, both cold and very hot. He has been terrified of water ever since. He strode proudly into the pool and declared his overcoming faith in Jesus. It was an exciting and inspiring day. That day, we had over sixty people in attendance for our baptism, BBQ, and pool party, during which four people were baptized. For the first time in my life, everyone in the pool had a significant story of overcoming and facing the direct and specific challenge of getting baptized. Challenges from family, health, and fear melted away as the date grew near. It was a great day of celebration and overcoming.
