As Greg Langman moves on from his role with New Ventures, we’d like to share with you some learnings from his time with us.

As the former Director of New Venture Development, Greg’s role changed a lot over the years. When he started back in 2010, Greg’s role was to provide coaching for leaders and their teams and to work with Dave Enns (Director of New Ventures) to develop the New Ventures environment. In the last few years his role shifted towards providing coaching, discernment and partnering with other organizations to provide training opportunities.

When asked to recount moments or situations in which he felt God at work in him while serving with New Ventures, Greg easily came up with a few examples:

"Just before I officially began with New Ventures, Dave Enns asked me to meet him in Toronto to talk about some of my dreams and ideas around church planting. To be honest I didn’t want to go.

I just wanted to do my own thing in Hamilton but my wife Linda spoke clearly into my life saying, 'I think you need to go meet with Dave today. I think something special is going to happen.' So I went to a meeting I didn’t want to go to and God showed up. He expanded my vision for Eastern Canada, provided finances to get going on the adventure and knit my heart to Dave’s in a way that I will always be grateful for.

"Another experience where I felt God work in me was meeting with a group of young leaders at Yonge and Eglinton. I had never met these people before but Dave asked me to go meet with them to discern with them what God was doing.

I remember walking up to the meeting knowing that if God didn’t show up nothing was going to happen. God quickly gave me relational favour with them that established trust and a willingness to enter into a time of listening prayer. Coming out of this meeting a church wasn’t started but next steps were discerned, as we experienced the powerful presence of the Spirit and lives were transformed. As I walked out of that meeting I realized for the first time that God was giving me a down payment experience for the new way he wanted to use me in the coming years in this area of discerning the voice and leadings of the Spirit."

In this next season, Greg will be working part time with Moose Jaw Alliance in the area of leader development with ministry teams and also continuing contract work with various ministries. This will also be a season of re-tooling and discerning what the next season of ministry will be.

On final reflection, Greg says, “My time with New Ventures changed my life! There is so much I could say but the main thing is this: my time with New Ventures created an environment for me to discover, discern and develop new skills, clarify my values and passions and follow the unique ministry invitations God had for me.

"The most encouraging thing about this season of ministry with New Ventures has been equipping, supporting, loving and being loved by people connected to New Ventures. Knowing that I played a part in the lives of hundreds of people over the last 7 years to trust God for what he has for them is an amazing gift I will cherish. These have been some of the best ministry years of my life!

We are so thankful for Greg and for the kind, servant heart which he contributed over the duration of his service with us. Please pray for him, his wife Linda, and their family as they continue their journey in Moose Jaw.
