To be invited into the lives of people reveals the kind of relationships that are formed. It is in these invitations that we recognize that God opens avenues for the hope of Christ to move into the community.
Over the last few months, we have been invited to share in the joys and sufferings of some of our neighbours. One of our neighbours will be having a significant surgery and invited us to journey alongside her though the recovery time. Living in subsidized housing, our neighbour will need a lot of care, support, and encouragement. We are touched to be invited into journeying with someone through their suffering and hardship and count it as God bringing yet another person of peace in the neighbourhood for us.
We were also invited to celebrate with one of the owners of a local shop. They counted us as friends and invited us to be present at their engagement and birthday party. It is amazing to be counted as friends to our neighbours and not just an institution that works within the neighbourhood. We pray that these will be doors that leads to seeing Christ at work in Midtown.
