Atlantic Canada is a mission field.

Comprised of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland, the percentage of the population that reports attending religious services at least once a month dropped by 26 points between 1986 and 2011. This is an area in need of revival and a fresh outpouring of the Spirit.

Says Jacob, "What excites me most about the opportunity in Atlantic Canada is the number of Alliance-friendly people the Spirit of God is already raising up there with a passion for reaching their neighbours and discipling the nations."

Atlantic Canada Regional Initiative

Having planted or help plant 4 different churches and New Ventures over the last 23 years of ministry, you could say Jacob Birch has been church planting while he's been pastoring. These included 2 majority culture Alliance churches in small towns outside Toronto, one 3rd space New Venture with 3 sites contextualizing the gospel for the under-housed, unreached people living permanently in the motels of Niagara Falls, and 1 South Asian diaspora New Venture reaching out to the growing population of Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi speaking students and families coming to the Niagara Region. His academic education includes a Bachelor's from Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale) and about half a master's degree. Jacob's real life education includes listening to lots of ministry podcasts, 3 trips to Israel and the Middle East as well as always having a 2nd part time non-ministry job to stay community-connected. His wife and ministry partner Heather Janette (née Spicer) is from Gregory Drive Alliance Church in Chatham ON and is completing her Ph.D. studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Their four children are half in university and half in high school.
