The Gathering

Hamilton is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada.

From its arts-driven core to its industrial coastline, Hamilton is a place full of diverse cultures and lifestyles. It has a rich history that not only shaped the city but also changed the world.

In the mid-1800s, Christian revival broke out in Hamilton and rapidly spread throughout the United States and eventually nations around the world. Nearly 200 years later, it is evident that God is up to something unique in the hearts of the people of Hamilton.

Calvin Lam is excited to be part of this incredible move of God in the city as he draws people together to form The Gathering.

Says Calvin, "I am excited about The Gathering because it’s a fresh and creative expression of the church. It’s a place where people are coming as they are to encounter Jesus, finding belonging in a Christ-centered community, and worshipping Jesus in their own way. God is up to something big."

The hope of The Gathering is that it would be a place where diversity is celebrated, a community where people can find healing and belonging, and a church where people can encounter Jesus and see Him radically transform lives.

Calvin Lam grew up in the Toronto area after his family immigrated from Hong Kong. During his undergraduate studies at McMaster University, God gave him a heart for the city of Hamilton as he got involved with various ministries within the city and connected with local churches that were caring for the poor. Naturally when he received the call to ministry, Calvin stayed in Hamilton to pursue and complete a Master of Divinity at McMaster Divinity College. He served as the English Ministry pastor at a local church for six years before leading a new community. Calvin’s desire is to see a generation of people who are passionate about Jesus and who desperately want to make Him known throughout the city of Hamilton and beyond.
